What is a dental implant? How is a dental implant applied?

The implant is artificial tooth roots placed in the jawbone and made to support the prostheses. These are screws made of instead of missing teeth, made of more titanium, which are long-lasting and can be used without problems for life. They are placed in the jaw bone by dentists in a small surgical procedure in sterile environments. After approximately two to three months, the dental implant is fully attached to the jawbone. After these stages, the implant replaces a real tooth root, which will carry the prosthesis to be placed on it. In some cases, patients may undergo general anesthesia. In order to perform the implant application, it is necessary to have a bone structure to support the implant and healthy gums. If this is not the case, the dental implant is performed with additional bone surgery and the success rate is very high.

The most important advantage of implant application is the dental implant prosthesis. In other words, patients have fixed teeth which have almost the same characteristics instead of the teeth they have lost. A correct application instead of lost teeth can often give better results than your own teeth. Implant teeth may be used for many years. However, in order to achieve these, implant application should be performed under appropriate conditions. Patients can care for their own teeth and can use them without any problems. In addition, the bone of the tooth taken in time does not function with time will melt. With the implant to be made after the shot, the bone resorption will decrease and then stop completely. Therefore, protection of the bone is a significant advantage that the patient obtains from the implant.

What are the types of implants?

Endosteal implants: These are surgically placed in the jaw bone. A second procedure is then performed by healing the gum tissue and shaping the tooth. In the last stage, artificial teeth, bridges or prostheses are connected to the implant in groups. It is the most commonly used form of implant in practice.

Subperiosteal implants: These species consist of a metal frame placed on the jawbone to the lower part of the gum tissue. After the gum is healed, the metal frame is fixed to the jawbone. The materials in the metal frame go out of the gums. Implants are mounted there. They are the most commonly used endosteal screws.

Can the implant be easily used in everyone?

In the absence of a systemic disease to prevent the healing of the wounds, the implant can be used if there is a bone structure to implant the implants. The screws installed have a certain length and width. The jawbone should be large enough to accommodate them. That is, a successful implant application depends on the condition of the jaw bone. Also, the gums should be healthy during and after treatment. Implant application is not suitable for people who have not completed bone development. This is usually around 18 years old. After this age can be applied easily.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column offset=”vc_col-md-3″][vc_single_image image=”1061″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1476256357761{padding-top: 30px !important;padding-right: 30px !important;padding-bottom: 30px !important;padding-left: 30px !important;background-color: #333333 !important;}” el_class=”need-sp”]
